MY HOMETOWN ( PLACES OF INTEREST )

MELAKA

My hometown is in Melaka! Melaka was renowned as the most historical city in Malaysia! We have various historical sites in Melaka. If you have studied for SPM, you would notice that in Sejarah, Melaka was mentioned alot of times compared to other states. Most figure that fought for their rights during the old days were mainly from Melaka!

THE STADTHUYS

The Stadthuys is one of Melaka's most well-visited place. You can see fruit stalls at the pedestrian walk. Those fruit stalls sell the best mouth-watering fruits!
The buildings in the place are painted red, thus it is also known as the Red Square. The place stores some of traditional costumes and artifacts that remind you of history of Malacca.

DATARAN PAHLAWAN MEGAMALL

I have visited this shopping mall countless of times through my recent years in Melaka! This is due to the fact that my school's location was just a stones' throw away from Dataran Pahlawan... If you think of it, yes, it was super convenient for me to find food, buy some stationery, watch movies or even play bowling! To be more precise, my school is just a one-minute walk away from this paradise.

ST. PAUL'S HILL

This hill was used by my school's uniform bodies to play. That's right, we used this place to do activities like night-hiking where we ascend to the top of this hill at 10pm. Nevertheless, this hill will grant you an jaw-opening panoramic view once you reach the top. You can almost see the half of the whole Melaka Tengah ( Kota ) by being at the top of this hill!

TANJUNG BIDARA

Tanjung Bidara is one of the places many of us Malaccans would go for a picnic. If you wish to find tranquility or serenity, you can also consider going to Tanjung Bidara. The waves there are calm. What's more? You can buy some appetizing light food and fruits from food stalls there.

MY FAMILY

MY PRIORITY, FAMI-LIM

MY FAMILY
My family is my priority.
I will not trade anything or anyone with my family. Especially my parents; they are my pillars of strength - my primary support to do anything in this world.

People tend to love their family the most when they are still infants due to the fact that their family are the only ones that are close to them. On our teenage years, we tend to forget about our family because we are starting to be occupied with other worries in our lives. We will start to be more distant from our family members and be more close to people who incorporate happiness into our lives. We seek happiness and fun because we want to forget about our personal problems that linger on our minds. Thus, we put our friends as our priority when we were in our teenage years as our friend goes through the same phase ( hence, they face the same problems ) as ourselves. Our friends in school becomes closer to use because we are having problems in common thus making us more relatable to one another.

But now, I am over that phase. I now realize that my family are the most important group of people to me. They are the one who genuinely cares for me. In simple terms, they are the ones that would resort themselves to anything just because they want the best for me.

My father's name is Lim Keng Chew. He owns a small advertising company that goes by the name of EB Advertising, back in my hometown, Melaka. My mother, Lai Buay Sim is a graphic designer working in my father's company. I have two elder sisters; Lim Sim Huey and Lim Sim Yee. Not to forget my younger brother, Lim Jia Jie! He is eight years old this year - ten years younger than me. Here is a short video of my younger brother when he was a baby.

All in all, I will resort myself to anything to protect my family. If you ask me why, I would tell you it is because I know they would have done the same for me.

MY SECONDARY SCHOOL

MY TIME IN ST. FRANCIS' INSTITUTION

                                                                                                           Related image

St. Francis' Institution; which is also known as SMK. St. Francis to many was my secondary school back in my hometown, Melaka. It is a missionary school renowned for its prominent english-speaking background.

Not to be overly braggadocious, but I would consider myself as someone who was an all-rounder in school. Despite my involvement in myriads number of activities, events and clubs, I never fail to find time and focus on my studies. Academically-wise, I have always stayed in the first class during my transition from form one to form five.

5 HIJAU ( 2017 )

With just a glance on the picture on the left, nostalgia coursed through my mind. The picture shows my class: 5 Hijau in the Biology Lab. We took this photo after we presented our Biology teacher, Pn. Nitia with a gift on her birthday!

On the side note, she was pregnant, so we gave her some baby-handling equipment!

If I were to be questioned on the days that made be proud to be in that school, it will be the days that I wore my scout uniform. Though I was not supposed to, I have always prioritize scouting over my studies. I mean, everybody in this world are inclined to opt for what makes them happy as their priority right? One of the best decisions I have ever made to this point of my life is that I have chosen to enroll myself into the scouting movement when I was form one. Never have and never will I regret for a millisecond of that choice. I will always feel a slight tinge of pride coursing through my nerves when I say, "I am a scout from 6th Fort".

When I was form four, I was elected as the Troop Leader of 6th Fort. I was given the chance to lead this prestigious troop that I loved so much; I was given the opportunity to improve the standards of this troop to greater heights with my batchmates.

SUPREME COUNCIL 2017/18

- This photo was taken on the last day we were official scouts in 6th Fort. It was an emotional day for all of us since we have to retire and pass down our post. to our successors.

On the year 2015, my school organized a formation marching competition that will be held annually. Scouts has consecutively won three times the competition on the year 2015, 2016 and 2017. This year, the scouts in my school are the defending champions once again. The following are the links to our formation marching video : 2015 / 2016 / 2017

Aside from being a scout, I also serve the school as a prefect throughout the five years of my secondary school. I was the Junior Assistant Secretary of my school's prefectorial board for the year 2014 and 2015.

PATRICK AND I SLEEPING IN CLASS

- Other than the main agendas, I find it difficult to stay awake in class almost everyday! I have zero clue to why my eyelids will start to gain weight and feel heavy when it is around 9am to 10am every single day in class!

P.S. : This photo was taken by my Add. Maths teacher.

Substantiated by the illustrations and texts above, I feel like utterly lucky to have such a wonderful, surreal and memorable time and experience throughout my days in secondary school. I appreciate those times genuinely to the extent that I would not hesitate to go back in time just to experience it all again.
